High Accolades for Two Top Patritti Reds

A great surprise for the Patritti team on the weekend with Halliday releasing his list of Australia's Best Winter Wines for 2019. Patritti have two wines included and both rated an impressive 97 points.

Winemakers, James Mungall and Ben Heide are elated to receive such high praise, making them two of our highest ever rated wines.

2017 Patritti Section 181 Single Vineyard Grenache is crafted from Patritti's own Tatachilla vineyard in the McLaren Vale region. Located less than 4km from the Gulf of St Vincent, Tatachilla vineyard's climate is slightly cooler due to the prevailing sea breezes. The soil is characterised as yellow and buff sandstone, pebbly sandstone and clay, providing ideal conditions for the old, dry grown Grenache vines with an average age of 50 years.

Halliday says of this wine,

- 97 Points -
It's no wimp - there are plenty of tannins and acidity to keep the attention, and better still, there are no oak armpits to avoid. Special value.

2016 Patritti Lot Three Single Vineyard Shiraz is harvested from select rows in Patritti's Blewitt Springs vineyard. This sub-region of McLaren Vale is known for producing wines of great finesse with a unique flavour profile including blue fruits and a hint of peat that add complexity to the finished wine. Patritti's vineyard is renowned for producing fruit representative of the sub-region, which are then further enhanced through the winemaking process.

Halliday says of this wine,

- 97 Points -
All this power, yet only 14% alcohol. All this wine, and only $35.

Both these wines are due for release in early 2020.
