Vintage 2024 is in full swing, kicking off 1st February with Chardonnay from the Riverland, making it our earliest vintage since 2019. Pinot Grigio grapes straight from the picturesque Adelaide Hills were crushed on the 19th February, destined for our next vintage release of our Merchant Series. So far all parcels of fruit have been of a high quality, with the mild summer creating the perfect environment for even ripening and maintaining natural acidity.
This week Shiraz was picked at the historic Marion Vineyard, right outside the Marion outdoor pool. Like every year, the fruit was handpicked to ensure maximum grape quality. We have had some sizable rain events during the growing season, but the last few weeks have seen nice warm to hot days and it’s pushing the fruit towards harvest quite nicely and if it keeps up potentially quite quickly!
In the coming weeks we will start harvesting from our McLaren Vale vineyards. Starting off in Tatachilla with our 1962 planted Grenache for our Lavoro Rose.
We can’t wait to see what this vintage brings, stay tuned for more updates!
